"We Care" is more than a generalized statement, but rather an action.  During Exhale 2017, we launched our impact initiative program within the local Dominican community called Fresh Wind Initiative.  The Fresh Wind initiative, was created to lend a helping hand towards impacting local children within Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and their strive for excellence in education. In 2017 Exhale adopted Second Mile School and Exhale attendees donated over 1000 school supplies for both teachers and students.  As ecstatic as the school was for what they received, we still wanted to do more.

 

While there we learned of a program the school initiated and without hesitation we immediately agreed to assist then and in future.  This project they have is called “Casa Esperanza” which is a rescue home for girls whom are without parents and  from broken homes, and parents with drug problems or have sexually abused their daughters. These girls are taken into this home and with the help of psychologist, free schooling, and lot of love are being educated and prepared for a better future. Their age range goes from 4 years old all the way to 15 years old and they need food, clothing, school supplies and any kind of help that can be given to them.

Our interaction with these young girls and smiles on their faces in spite of their harsh realities assured us that this shouldn’t be their burden alone.  With this being our sixth year  we endeavor to do more than just school supplies, but strive to meet the needs of these young girls and boys alike who have been targeted and mishandled.  It is our hope that by adopting this program we can send a clear message that they too matter and deserve the chance to live life better passed hurt, pain, and trauma caused. It’s not our pleasure, but rather our duty to impact the younger generation who look up to us for leadership and guidance.  We gladly accept any support, donations, and kind efforts of impact than can assist with these matters.  Please see our list of supplies needed!
